This is how they will be differentiated. When you click on one of them (for example, Roma by Alfonso Cuarón), a screen will pop up inviting you to either identify yourself with your Netflix user and sign up for the merger in a matter of minutes, or go directly to the same content in the Netflix app, at no cost, ignoring the route proposed by Movistar.

Tras el lanzamiento de Netflix en Movistar + el 11 de diciembre, más de un tercio de los nuevos abonados a Movistar, el servicio de telefonía, internet y televisión de Telefónica, han tomado la nueva opción de Netflix. El 35% de los clientes establecidos con acceso a paquetes que ahora ofrecen Netflix con un recargo -10 euros (11 dólares) para los clientes del paquete Fusión Total + de Movistar +, por ejemplo- también han optado por Netflix.
Pero, según anunciaron el 24 de mayo el consejero delegado de Telefónica, José María Álvarez Pallete, y el consejero delegado de Netflix, Reed Hastings, este último escondido tras una máscara de Salvador Dalí y un traje de la “Casa de Papel”, el acuerdo entre Telefónica y Netflix sigue pareciendo una situación en la que todos ganan.
“Al principio, Telefónica y muchos operadores de televisión de pago veían a Netflix como una amenaza para la televisión de pago, canibalizando sus paquetes de películas y series”, dijo María Rua Aguete, directora ejecutiva de tecnología, medios y telecomunicaciones de IHS Markit.
Y añadió: “Cinco años después, hay una conciencia generalizada de que eso no es así. Telefónica, como empresa de telecomunicaciones, obtiene ingresos no sólo del vídeo, sino también de la banda ancha, la telefonía y el móvil. Para ellos, Netflix representa otro canal con películas y series que los consumidores quieren ver”.
